Privacy Policy

The Short Version

We collect what we need to read your site, take your payment, build your codex and send it to you. We do not sell your data. We do not run advertising trackers on this site. The site loads Google Tag Manager, which we use to run Google Analytics to see how pages are used. You can ask for a copy of what we hold, or ask us to delete it, by email.

What We Collect and Why

The website address you enter in the reader

We open public pages of that site to build the preview. We may keep the preview result for a limited time so a repeat read is faster.

Your order details

Name, email address, business name and website URL. We use them to build your codex, deliver it, send the receipt, answer support and keep records.

Payment

Stripe takes your card details and processes the charge. We receive a confirmation and, at most, the last four digits. Card numbers never reach our servers.

The public content of your site

Logo files, colors, fonts and enough page text to identify your industry. This is used to build your codex and kept as part of the finished codex.

Support email

Whatever you send us, kept with your order.

Server logs

IP address, browser type, pages requested and time. Kept for security and debugging.

What We Do Not Collect

Card numbers. Passwords, because there are none: your login is a link we email you. Anything behind a login on your site. We do not use advertising trackers on brand-codex.com. The site loads Google Tag Manager, which we use to run Google Analytics. Analytics shows us how pages are used: which pages are visited, and which steps people take, such as starting a read or completing an order. We do not send your name or email address to it.

Who Processes Data for Us

These providers store data in the United States and other countries. By using Brand Codex you agree to that transfer.

Stripe

Payment processing.

Amazon Web Services

Email delivery through Amazon SES from [email protected], and file storage for codexes.

Netlify

Hosting for brand-codex.com.

Google (Tag Manager and Analytics)

Tag Manager loads on every page of brand-codex.com. We use it to run Google Analytics, which reports how pages are used.

Railway and Supabase

The software that builds your codex and the database behind it.

Our customer relationship management system

Where contact details and order history are kept.

Marketing Email

We may email you about Brand Codex and other MK-Way products. Every such email has an unsubscribe link. Order and delivery emails are not marketing and continue for as long as you have an order with us.

Your Hosted Codex

Your codex lives at a link on app.brand-codex.com. The link is not listed anywhere and cannot be guessed, but anyone who has it can view the page. That is what makes it easy to hand to a designer or a tool. If you want a codex taken down, email us from the address on the order.

How Long We Keep Things

Order records

Seven years, as Canadian tax rules require.

Your codex and its files

Until you ask us to remove them or the service ends.

Preview results

A limited time, then deleted.

Server logs

A short rolling window.

Your Rights

Under Canadian privacy law (PIPEDA) you can ask what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, ask us to delete it, or withdraw consent for marketing. Email [email protected] from the address on your order. We answer within 30 days. We keep the transaction records the law requires us to keep, even after a deletion request.

Cookies

The site uses the cookies needed for checkout to work. Google Analytics, run through Google Tag Manager, sets cookies to tell one visit from another. No advertising cookies.

Children

Brand Codex is a business tool and is not intended for anyone under 18.

Changes to This Policy

We post changes here with a new date at the top. If a change affects how we use data you have already given us, we also email the address on your order.
